OPEN’s Sexual Violence Resource Center offers free, confidential, trauma-informed support services to Northeastern students who have experienced any form of sexual violence (i.e., sexual assault, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, domestic/dating violence, and/or stalking), recently or in the past, regardless of location.

An interactive resource developed by the US Department of Veterans Affairs for anyone experiencing effects of trauma, that provides a ‘toolbox’ of techniques to help manage distressing symptoms.

Free access to the mindfulness and meditation app with your Northeastern login. The app offers guided meditations, breathing exercises, sleep stories, focus music, stress-reducing workouts, and much more. All of these can serve as helpful grounding strategies to survivors managing traumatic stress

RAINN is the nation's largest anti-sexual-assault organization and a national leader in online crisis intervention services. RAINN operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline. All services are free, confidential and available 24/7.

The Northeastern Vancouver campus is participating in the Moose Hide Campaign, an Indigenous-led movement to end violence against women and children across Canada.

Throughout April, visit the campaign kiosks on campus to learn more, pick up a moose hide pin, and pledge your support.

Interested in learning about navigating receiving disclosures of sexual violence? OPEN has created the RESPOND module which offers training information on trauma-informed responses to disclosures of sexual violence and language that can be helpful in supporting a survivor.

Check out the data published from our survey administered during the Fall 2023 semester. This voluntary, confidential effort helps assess incidence and prevalence of sexual violence on campus, allows us to evaluate educational programs, and highlights areas where the university can improve and focus future efforts.

NSVRC offers research, resources, and tools in preventing and responding to sexual violence.

Ways to gET iNVOLVED

Interested in helping prevent sexual violence on Northeastern's Boston campus? Consider applying for the Sexual Violence Prevention Educator role through the Office of Prevention and Education (OPEN). Peer educators give bystander intervention presentations to first-year seminars throughout the academic year that teach students how to recognize warning signs of sexual violence and then intervene in safe and effective ways. Paid position, and rising 2nd-5th year undergraduate students and all graduate students are eligible to apply.
